From 8:45 to 9:10 AM, kids sign in and get a chance to loosen up with some casual shooting. This period helps them get comfortable on the court, shake off any nerves, and start focusing on the day ahead. It’s a great way for young athletes to socialize and get into the basketball mindset.

Age Breakdown and Stretching (Warm-Up): 9:20 AM - 9:35 AM

Following the opening remarks, kids are grouped by age for a targeted warm-up session. This age-appropriate breakdown ensures that each child engages in exercises suitable for their developmental level. The stretching and warm-up period from 9:20 to 9:35 AM helps prevent injuries, increases flexibility, and prepares the body for the physical activity ahead. It’s a vital part of any athletic routine, teaching young athletes the importance of proper preparation.

Water Break: 9:35 AM

Staying hydrated is key, especially in the Arizona heat. A scheduled water break at 9:35 AM ensures that kids stay refreshed and ready to continue. It’s a brief but necessary pause to recharge before diving into more intensive training.

From 9:40 to 10:30 AM, the camp focuses on fundamental basketball skills through various stations. Each station targets a different skill:

  • Ball Handling: Kids learn to control the ball better, enhancing their dribbling skills.

  • Footwork: Proper footwork is crucial in basketball for defense and positioning. This station improves agility and coordination.

  • Layups: Practicing layups helps players improve their accuracy and confidence in close-range shots.

  • Shooting: Shooting drills help refine technique and build muscle memory for consistent performance.

This comprehensive approach ensures that campers get well-rounded training in all essential basketball skills.
